Latest P.R.O. Notes 26th February 2008

P.R.O. Notes
Junior Footballers came away from Mahon last Sunday without any points missing 18 regulars it was a achievement that the team competed in this contest leading at half time playing with the wind. Unfortunately Mayfield were unable to continue there good play in the second half and were just piped to the post by the narrowest of margins going down 2.09 to 2.08.Choilm Bond, Dean Grainger,2 goal Chris Coughlan & Richard O’Keefe were very good throughout the game.
Juvenille U15 Football were absolutely outstanding in there trip to Nemo Rangers. They competed throughout the hour leading at half time 1.5 to a point. Nemo came at them with precision but the lads stood up to everything that was thrown at them. Mayfield held a slender lead with 5minutes to go but unfortunately conceded three late goal and lost out by 5.9 to 3.6.This team had shown through heart but need to keep working at the basics for more improvement. Glen Hegarty, Eoin Downey, James Byrne & Stephen Barry made a huge difference when he came on
The Intermediate team are hoping to begin there league campaign at the weekend of 1st and 2nd March. Best of luck to the Manager Tony Hegarty, Coach Donal Hegarty and there selectors Noel Crowley, Denis Crowley and Eddie Hartnett.

Age of 5 – 11
Time 12.45
Minor footballers had a disappointing run out in there league campaign last Sunday morning versus St. Vincent’s going down by a big margin. The opposition were always in control they were physically stronger in the centre of the park. Unfortunately the injury to Ian Monaher didn’t help Mayfield’s cause. The final result 3.13 to 1.08 was an unfair reflection on the game but its back to the drawing board for the management team and players who take collective responsibility. Eolan Bond played well in goal Brian Punch was leading the line while Brian O’Leary and Shane Creedon tried hard but Man of Match was Stephen Crowley who’s commitment is a credit to his mentors.
