• Mayfield Junior hurlers just about did enough to slip past Glen Rovers in the Junior Hurling League last weekend. A very young Mayfield side took to the field but what they lacked in age they made up for in effort. Eoin Barry at full back and Ian Looney at centre back were always in command of their positions. Dan Lucey and the hard-working Kevin Walsh eventually came out on top at centre field. Mayfield came out of the traps very lively but their inability to take chances could have proved costly, until Shane Kelly, Maurice Barry & Patrick Duggan started to find the range. Eventually Mayfield came out on top despite leaking a late Glen goal. Referee Colm Lyons refereed the game with great authority and common sense. It was great to see a big crowd in attendance and plenty of old faces appearing again.

• Victory came to the Mayfield under 15 hurling side last Saturday in their first hurling league match. Trailing 2 - 2 to no score it seemed that it was going to be an uphill battle but Mayfield slowly came to grips with the opposition. When Mayfield eventually went ahead they never looked back. Matthew Cooney was exceptional and well supported by Ciaran Cronin and Neil Creedon. Man of the Match went to Glen Hegarty at full-back. Mayfield went out comprehensive winners. Well done to Manager Ger Punch, selectors Ger Lehane Stephen Barry and Eoin O’Mahony.
• The Mayfield under 12’s had a fantastic win last Saturday versus near neighbours Brian Dillon’s. Mayfield were always on top in this game and were never really threatened. Well done to selectors Joe Sheehan, Cormac Cassin, Greg Cooney and Jim Doherty.
