Important Notice regarding GAA Membership Database - Posted 10/12/2010 GAA Press Statement Friday 10th December 2010 Servasport Ltd., has informed the GAA that there has been unauthorised access to the GAA membership database. Servasport Ltd., a Belfast based company that develops and maintains the GAA membership database, has issued an unreserved apology to the GAA and to our members. The GAA became aware of the data breach when it was informed on the 19th November 2010 that disks containing the database had been received by the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner and the GPA who immediately passed the disk to the GAA. The Information Commissioners Office in Belfast also received a disk. An investigation is being carried out by the Police Service of Northern Ireland and in order to facilitate this investigation the GAA has been unable to inform members until today. The database contains the names and addresses of 501,786 members. No other GAA IT system is affected by this incident. The database does not contain any financial or any other information. This matter is being taken very seriously by the GAA: -The GAA is working closely with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner, the Information Commissioners Office and the Police Service of Northern Ireland. -Deloitte has been engaged to undertake an independent review of Servasport and other suppliers of IT to the GAA -All clubs have been sent information -The GAA has set up an Information Line Any member or any parent/guardian with any questions, or who wishes to establish whether data relating to them has been affected by this incident, should contact the Information Line on a Lo Call number: 1890 987 807 or 0800 0114787 (from Six Counties) 8am to 8pm daily. Minors Advance in Hurling Championship - Posted 23/8/2010 Our Minor Hurlers showed true determination and the will to succeed to defeat Valley Rovers in the Minor Hurling County Championship this evening at Ballinhassig. A slow first half performance finished with the half time score, Mayfield 1-1 to Valley Rovers 0-9. The goal scored by Eoin Doherty. The second half display was excellent with a greater team effort. Nicky Kelly stood out with a tally of nine points in the second half, however Man of the Match must go to Shane Donovan for a tremendous game at half-back. An inspirational point by Shane Donovan on the 16th minute from over 70 metres lifted the team. Mayfield progress to the next stage of the championship on a scoreline Mayfield 2-11 to Valley Rovers 0-13.
Minor Hurlers Draw in League - Posted 20/8/2010 Our Minor Hurling Team finished level in a pulsating game in the County Minor Hurling League this evening at Mayfield. Final score Mayfield 3-14 to Erins Own 4-11.
Juvenile Quiz Night - Posted 12/8/2010 Our Juvenile Committee will run a fundraising Quiz Night on Friday 13th August 2010 at 8.30pm in the Club Bar.

Mayfield Advance to Junior Hurling Final - Posted 25/7/2010 Mayfield progress to the City Division Junior A Championship Final following a comprehensive victory defeating Delaneys in the semi-final this afternoon on a scoreline Mayfield 2-20 Delaneys 2-09. Mayfield will now await the winners of the second semi-final Brian Dillons versus Na Piarsaigh in the final.
Championship Success Continues - Posted 20/7/2010 Mayfield Hurlers advance in their respective championships with wins for the Minor Hurlers over Russell Rovers last Thursday [Mayfield 2-15 to Russell Rovers 1-6], Our Junior B Hurlers versus Ballinure and following an excellent display, Our Junior A Hurlers defeated Nemo Rangers on Sunday last [Mayfield -15 to Nemo Rangers 1-8].

Games on the Green - Posted 22/6/2010 The "Games on the Green" initiative from Mayfield GAA Academy has proven to be a great success with large numbers of Boys and Girls joining in the fun and learning skills on the green in Mayfield each friday evening. The final night event was again well supported and began with a parade fronted by "Pa the Piper".

Mayfield Advance in Premier Intermediate Championship - Posted 16/5/2010 Our Intermediate football team produced a spirited display in the Cork County Premier Intermediate Football Championship at Caherlag on Friday last 14/5/2010 to defeat Glenville. The team showed real character and fighting spirit to defeat Glenville with the narrowest of margins on a scoreline Mayfield 0-8 to Glenville 0-7.
Nicky Drives Cork to Munster Championship Win - Posted 28/4/2010 Cork advance in the ESB Munster Minor Hurling Championship tonight after an exciting game that needed extra time to determine a winner. We are extremely proud as a Club of the part played by Nicky Kelly in this victory. Nicky gave a workhorse display at midfield to earn Cork a place in the next round. An inspirational point from Nicky mid-way through the second half lifted the team and the home support. The large crowd in attendance at Pairc Uí Chaoimh were treated to an exciting eighty minutes of hurling. Full-time score after extra time: Cork 2-31 Tipperary 4-22. Well Done Nicky!!

Colleges All-Ireland Hurling Final - Posted 19/3/2010 The Colleges All-Ireland Hurling Final takes place next Tuesday between CIT and UCC at the Mardyke 2pm. We are delighted that three of our Club Players are participating in the final. Niall Creedon - Seandún Player of the Year - Posted 15/3/2010 Hard work paid off as the The Maher Sports under 16 Seandún Player of the Year was awarded to our Clubman Niall Creedon at a reception held on there business premises at Maylor Street recently. The evening was attended by a who's who in sport. Special thanks must go to Maher Sports for sponsoring this event and the wonderful evening which was the official reception and presentation to players who excelled at their given code for the 2009 season. For Niall's parents and family it was a very proud moment for them. We would like to take this opportunity in congratulating Niall on his achievement and wish him well for all that he does in the future.

Mayfield Junior Footballers Win - Posted 28/2/2010 Mayfield Junior Footballers had a great win today by the narrowest of margins. The team played with strength and confidence and kept up the pressure to the end of the game. An excellent display and a well deserved win in the league against Clan na nGael.
Training continues next Tuesday 6.30pm on the field.
Winning Weekend for Mayfield Teams - Posted 8/11/2009 Mayfield Hurlers can be proud of their achievements this weekend with a clean sweep of cups on offer. The weekend success began with an excellent display by our U21 Hurlers to capture the City Division title for 2009 defeating Whitechurch on Saturday. The icing on the cake to complete the winning weekend was the defeat of our near neighbours and rivals Brian Dillons in the McCurtain Cup Final on a scoreline 1-14 to 1-09 today. Congratulations to both Teams and Selectors on their achievements.

Mayfield GAA Golf Society Presidents Prize Day - Posted 28/10/2009 Mayfield GAA Golf Society held its Presidents Prize at Water Rock G.C. on Saturday 12th September 2009 last with an attendance of Twenty Seven. This year's President is Mr. Jim Morrison and he has really excelled in the role, making sure the day went off smoothly for everyone and even provided us with some glorious sunshine. The winner on the day was James Atkins who had a superb 39 pts just beating Eric Walsh by half a point. Cat.1 was won by Eric with Paul McSweeney the runner-up & in Cat.2 the winner was the ever improving John Magner with a score of 37(someone seriously needs to check his handicap) with the runner-up being Liam Wills also with a score of 37. Alex Walsh & Noel Keohane won the nearest to the pins, with Noel also winning the best over 50's score. The committee would like to thank Jim for all his efforts on the day and let him know he can now concentrate on his own game.

GAA announce details of National Student Bursaries Scheme - Posted 22/10/09 Bursaries will be administered by the respective Provincial Councils and applications for the scheme will be considered by a sub-committee in each province. Each bursary granted will be for €1000/£800 and payment will be made annually in two instalments of €500/£400. Further information and application forms for this year's scheme are available to download from <http://www.gaa.ie/pan>, the various GAA Provincial Council websites and offices and from the Higher Education Colleges website <http://he.gaa.ie/>. All completed forms should be returned to the relevant Provincial Council and the closing date for application will be November 1st 2009.

Mayfield GAA Club Announces Ambitious Development Proposals - Posted 20/3/2009 Mayfield GAA Club has lodged a planning application with Cork County Council to develop state of the art facilities at our pitches in Mayfield. The facilities proposed will provide the Club with the ability to grow and develop in accordance with our Club Strategic Plan and to the benefit of the wider Community of Mayfield. We look forward to the delivery of this ambitious plan in the coming years.

Summer School of GAA Excellence Announced - Posted 11/8/2009 Mayfield GAA Club is delighted to announce the hosting of a "Football School of Excellence" from Monday 24th August 2009 to Wednesday 26th August 2009 inclusive in association with Charlie McLaughlin [Director of Coaching, Cork County]. The programme runs from 2.30pm to 5.30pm each day, with registration from 2pm. The programme costs a nominal €5 per child/day. National Awards to Volunteers in Sport - Posted 25/7/2009 The Federation of Irish Sports is delighted to announce that it is joining forces with the Department of Arts, Sport & Tourism to host the 2009 National Awards to Volunteers in Sport. The awards are being supported by the Community Foundation, Setanta Sport and the Irish Sports Council.
We were delighted that athletes of the calibre of Jason Sherlock, Derval O'Rourke, Katie Taylor, Bernard Dunne and Rob Kearney gave of their time to assist in launching the awards.
The awards for 2009 will be announced at a function in January 2010. There will be 11 different awards in total. The awards will seek to provide recognition of all the different areas in which people volunteer including, coaching, management, administration and officiating. In addition, awards will recognise young/junior volunteers and also volunteering in disability sport. A lifetime award will go to someone who has given in excess of 25 years voluntary service to Irish sport.

VHI Cúl Camp 2009 - Posted 10/7/2009 This weeks VHI Cúl Camp held at Mayfield GAA Club have proven a great success. The boys and girls participated in football and hurling skills and enjoyed fun and games throughout the week. The final day of Camp brought a special visitor to Mayfield when Cork Hurling Star Patrick Horgan came to give his support.

Lá na gClub - 125th Anniversary Cumann Lúth-Chleas Gael - Posted 6/5/2009 In recognition of the 125th Anniversary of Cumann Lúth-Chleas Gael, Mayfield GAA Club will host a day of events on Sunday next 10th May 2009 to mark this historic occassion.
Events will commence on Saturday 9th May 2009 with a Special Mass at 6pm in Our Lady Crowned Church, Mayfield to celebrate past and present members of the Club. Boys and Girls from our Fé13 and Fé14 Teams will participate during this celebration.
Events for Sunday the 10th May 2009 will commence at Mayfield GAA Grounds at 2pm with a series of exhibition games involving our Juvenile, Girls, Adult Ladies and Adult Mens Teams. The days events will continue with Social activities in the Club house at Kerry road following the games and will include:
- A museum of photos and press cuttings over the years.
- Broadcast of C/ship games involving Intermediate Football Team and Fé16 County Hurling Final 2007 in the Club Bar.
- Tadgh McAuliffe [Over 60's Finalist] to sing in the Club Bar.
- Roy Buckley Musician playing in Clu Bar 6pm-8pm.
- Mary McCarthy Irish Dance Display in Club.
- Music in Club Lounge till Close.

Bhí foirne scoile ó Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Alainn, Mala, Carrig Uí Leighin, Machan, Scoil na nÓg, an Bhlárna agus Cóbh. D'imir Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Alainn agus Carrig Uí Leighin in aghaidh a cheile i gcraobh iontach sportúil d'ainneoin an droch aimsir. Ar deireadh bhí an bua ag Gaelscoil an Ghoirt Alainn ar scórline 3-02 go 1-04 ach de bharr an iaracht iontach óna beirt foireann beigh an beirt acu ag dul ar aghaidh go dti craobh an gcomórtas i Rinn, Co. Port Lairge.
