Code of Conduct Club Officials



  1. Membership must be paid no later than 1st March each year.

  2. Lead by example – Create a safe and enjoyable environment in which to train and play, free of drugs and alcohol.

  3. Plan and prepare for matches and training sessions appropriately.

  4. Club Officials should at the outset, clarify with the players exactly what is expected of them and also what they are entitled to expect from management.

  5. Be co-operative and respectful to team players at all times.

  6. Respect the game of GAA and play within the rules of the game.

  7. Remember you are representing your team, club family and the game of hurling and football. You are asked to conduct yourselves in a manner that will not cause embarrassment to your families or Mayfield GAA Club.

  8. Respect GAA facilities and equipment at all times including facilities and equipment at “away” or “neutral” venues.

  9. Recognise development needs and also set realistic goals for the team.

  10. Never criticise the referee and officials during or after the match.

  11. Your allegiance at all times must be with Mayfield GAA Club.

  12. Seek and follow the advice of medical personnel in determining when an injured player is ready to play again.

  13. Ensure you and your players are proud of your team, club and efforts during the season.

Following these rules will ensure that hurling and football are played in a sporting and safe environment. Team Managers will report players who break these rules to the Chairman of the Adult Games Committee. Disciplinary issues will be advised and recorded during weekly meetings. Matters will be dealt with at a Disciplinary hearing convened at the request of the Executive Committee. The Disciplinary Panel will be a Sub-Committee appointed by the Executive Committee. The Disciplinary Sub-Committee will hear each case and make recommendations to the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee will make a decision and communicate in writing to the parties involved. An appeal of a decision of the Executive Committee may be taken to An Coiste Corcaigh (Attn: An Runaí, Pairc Uí Chaoimh, Baile an Teampaill, Corcaigh) within seven (7) days of the issue of a decision.
